There used to be a time (and it wasn't long ago) that when you thought of a flash mob, the image which came to mind was a positively spontaneous group of people who started dancing in the mall. Think back to this episode of Modern Family, and you'll know what I mean. https://youtu.be/77O6IrDYBBI?si=CZCSO2UEYDtpVUVQ Fast forward to this new Earth we live on, and flash mob has taken on an entirely different meaning and is not so spontaneous... and definitely is not positive.
Flash mob robberies are on the rise across the United States. These robberies involve a large group of people(criminals) who quickly overwhelm store employees and steal items like clothing, jewelry, and electronics...basically everything that is not locked down, and some of those things which are. Glass jewelry cases are being smashed, security cords attached to expensive bags are being cut, and armored trucks are being overtaken. When we sit in movie theaters, we root for these villains portrayed by our favorite actors. But off the big screen, these offenses are no laughing matter, and definitely nothing to cheer about.
In July 2023, at least 30 people stole approximately $300,000 worth of merchandise from a Yves Saint Laurent store in Glendale, California. The suspects ran into the store, grabbed merchandise, and fled in numerous vehicles. The same scenario happened in April and May, and recently, Flash mob robbers hit a Nike store in South L.A
The news may say something like the motives of the robbers are unclear. That is not necessarily the case. Flash mob robbers are not stealing baby formula, groceries, and milk. The motive is greed. The cause is ...lack of home training and moral character. These are individuals who feel that they are above the law and have a blatant disrespect for everyone, especially themselves. They want what they want, don't want to work for it, and feel like they don't have to work for it in today's world.
We are definitely at the end of days and nothing...I MEAN NOTHING is sacred. We live in a world where corruption starts at home and extends to schools, jobs, Congress, churches, and even the Vatican. Meanwhile, scientists are looking for ways to extend human life and protect the atmosphere and environment while at the same time trying to find ways to leave Earth and live on other planets.
At the end of the day, it all seems ridiculous. Regardless of race, nationality, creed, sex, caste, or color...humanity is the issue. The Flash mob robberies are just a microcosm of what is happening in the world. Michael Jackson wrote a song called "Man in the Mirror." It was a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics. "If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change." It's past time for looking at ourselves for a change because that doesn't work and never has... We need to look a bit higher- Ezekiel 36:27...and ask for an exchange!
